It is not worth saying what a UAZ car is for a long time, since it is a common car in the vastness of the CIS countries. One of the models of this brand is considered to be the UAZ Hunter, he is also the heir and revision of the legendary UAZ-469. In the manufacturer's list of models, the new Hunter is listed under the code 3151, although there are many modifications that differ mostly in the availability of accessories.

As well as more than 50 years ago, the current UAZ models are produced at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant. As for the Hunter SUV itself, its history, advantages and disadvantages are not particularly worth describing, since they are known to everyone. Despite the updates announced by the manufacturer, the Hunter is practically no different from the previous versions of the model. At the front, there are well-recognizable round headlights, small round foglights and a mesh insert in the notch (radiator grille) and a branded emblem. A special feature is the appearance of a hydro-regulator of the optics, which will make it easy to adjust it at the most inopportune moment (in bad weather or off-road).

Front bumper still steel, with a notch for license plates in the center. Now, the manufacturer has included power hooks located on the sides of the bumper in the standard configuration of the UAZ Hunter, thereby increasing the reliability and permeability of even the simplest configuration.

The windshield of the SUV was left unchanged, it is still chopped, with a pair of windshield wipers at the bottom, although with an additional board it can be made open, which is important when using the car in hot conditions. For the rest, there are no changes in the front of the SUV, and are not expected in the near future.

Unlike the appearance, the interior of the UAZ Hunter 2018-2019 has changed a little, although one can only dream of full comfort and sound insulation. Due to the loud operation of the engine, hard seats and individual suspension knocks, some motorists call this model a "hellish stool". Nevertheless, the cross-country ability of the car remains at the highest level. Soft plastic upholstery, wood inlays and leather overlays are all luxury and not for Hunter. In this SUV, everything is strict and consistent.

You shouldn't expect a multimedia system, various electronics packages and the like. The dashboard, as such, is absent, but the main set of instruments of a round design is located in the center of the front panel. As a rule, the list includes an analogue temperature sensor for the engine, fuel level in the tank, oil pressure and battery charging. Closer to the steering wheel, a speedometer was placed, which, in fact, has not changed its design and shape since the creation of the UAZ itself.

The steering wheel is just as simple, but as practice shows, it is reliable and is not afraid of dirt, moisture and sunlight.

For comfort and controllability, the steering wheel received a power steering. It can be seen that there is nothing in Hunter with the comfort of modern cars. But do not forget that the main purpose of the car is off-road. Thanks to the development of engineers, all parts of the Hunter's interior are interchangeable.

Technical characteristics of UAZ Hunter

The characteristics of the new UAZ Hunter are the main strong points that an SUV can surprise. The choice of the buyer is presented with two engines, which were installed on the previous models. The main one is the gasoline engine, but the second is the diesel one. Coupled with units without options, only a 5-speed manual transmission, which has repeatedly shown itself in the most difficult situations.

Another hallmark of the UAZ Hunter is all-wheel drive, thanks to which it is accustomed to Spartan conditions. The drive of the off-road vehicle is plug-in, full, with a reduction gear. In total, there are three main modes of movement: 2H - torque is transmitted to the rear axle, due to which the fuel economy is maximum. The second mode is 4H - the torque is evenly distributed between the front and rear axles (50:50). As a rule, it turns on on slippery roads or in light off-road conditions. The last, third mode 4L - is used on heavy off-road and provides maximum traction for 4 wheels of the UAZ.

The suspension of the UAZ Hunter is dependent, a spring suspension with anti-roll bars is installed in front, leaf springs at the rear (usually three sheets on each side). As for the braking system, ventilated disc brakes at the front, drum brakes at the rear.

This is very convenient, since there is a supply of fuel, and at a gas station you do not need to move from one pump to another to refuel both tanks.

The comfort of the UAZ Hunter SUV leaves much to be expected, as well as safety. Repeatedly, the drivers of this car discussed the topic of the brake system, or rather the moment of braking itself. If the braking system is at least somewhere not adjusted or requires improvement, Hunter will be pulled to the side at the moment the brake pedal is pressed, even at low speed. This is not due to the proportional ratio of the weight of the Hunter's body to the dimensions of the brake discs and drums, although they say there are many other reasons for this reaction of the SUV.

On the other hand, if the car is designed for off-road driving, while it should not be expensive, then this is the basic set that is necessary for the UAZ Hunter SUV. It is worth noting that in the 2019 modification, the engineers installed the anti-lock braking system ABS.

Price and configuration of UAZ Hunter

The choice of characteristics of the UAZ Hunter is not particularly large, but the accessories, additional parts and the very purpose of the SUV can differ significantly. The price list contains two basic configurations, they are also basic, with gasoline and diesel engines. If we consider other modifications of the UAZ Hunter, then in total we can count about 22 options.

The basic configuration of a UAZ Hunter with a gasoline engine will cost from 732,000 rubles, the same version of an SUV, but with a differential lock, will cost from 770,900 rubles. How much the Hunter with a diesel engine will cost, the manufacturer has not yet specified, in the same way as the dynamic characteristics of the car. The conclusions about the SUV Hunter, on the one hand, remain positive, a good ratio of off-road performance and price. The UAZ engine and suspension, which have also proven themselves in practical situations, are also excellent.

On the other hand, the improvements are minimal, and the comfort and safety leave you expecting the best. No wonder they say that Hunter is a flight of thoughts for the owner in the direction of improving design and comfort.
