The Infiniti QX80 is a premium full-size SUV that emerged from the global brand rebranding and made its global debut in 2013. Just a year later, the manufacturer rolled out a restyled version of the model, which is still available for purchase in the company's Russian dealerships. But is it worth doing if in the spring of 2018 another restyling of the Infiniti QX80 2018, which debuted on the world stage at the 2017 Dubai Auto Show, reaches the domestic market?

Compared to its predecessor, the car has received a revised appearance in the style of the conceptual Infiniti QX80 Monograph, an improved interior and an expanded list of equipment. But the technical stuffing has remained the same, but first things first.

2018 Infiniti QX80 Exterior

The new QX80 has an impressive and presentable appearance, which looks an order of magnitude more harmonious and attractive than the pre-styling model.

Major changes have been made body front, where spectacular LED headlights, an enlarged false radiator grille, an embossed hood and a massive bumper with a trapezoidal air intake and a pair of foglights were registered.

Machine profile impressive in its scope: massive wheel arches, huge front and rear doors, large glass area and an almost perfectly flat roofline. It is especially worth highlighting the presence of 22-inch wheels, which received a new, more stylish and attractive design. The manufacturer also changed the air ducts located behind the front wheel arches.

Car feed acquired a new tailgate, which received a more graceful stamping, new LED side lights and a powerful rear bumper with increased horizontal stripes of fog lights.

Despite the impressive dimensions, the Infiniti QX80 2018 looks harmonious and dynamic, moreover, from now on, the exterior of the SUV is fully consistent with the style of the company's younger models, which have already been updated.

The external dimensions of the novelty are:

  • Length - 5.339 m;
  • Width - 2.029 m;
  • Height - 1.925 m.

The distance between the axles is an impressive 3,075 m, so there is enough room in the car even to accommodate a basketball player who can easily sit down by himself. The declared ground clearance is 257 mm, which provides the car with excellent cross-country ability and allows it to overcome railway tracks and speed bumps on the fly.

As before, the user can choose one of eight body colors, among which Hermosa Blue and Smoky Quartz look especially stylish.

Interior Infiniti QX80 2018

If there are enough changes in appearance and they are instantly striking, then the situation with the interior is exactly the opposite - it is not so easy to find them. So, the company's designers changed the finish of the door cards, improved the trim of the seats, which received a stylish diamond-shaped stitching, and also increased the diagonal of the displays mounted in the backs of the front seats.

Driver's seat represented by a large multifunction steering wheel, as well as a visually simple instrument cluster that provides quick and easy reading of indicators. The central dashboard is represented by an 8-inch monitor of the infotainment complex, an audio system control unit and a microclimate in the cabin.

Immediately, the manufacturer placed an oval-shaped analog clock, which favorably emphasizes the general atmosphere of luxury and aristocracy in the salon. When creating the salon, the manufacturer expectedly used only premium materials: genuine leather, wood and soft plastics.

Impressive size front seats provide a comfortable fit, but more lateral support would be desirable. Chairs delight with a wide range of adjustments (with electric drive), heating and ventilation system.

On the second row installed two free-standing armchairs (optional three-seater sofa), between which lies an impressive armrest. And here three-seater third row of seats provides a comfortable landing for only two passengers, who are really not constrained in the free space.

In a seven-seat layout trunk volume is 470 liters. If necessary, both the third and second row of seats can be folded, thus obtaining 1400 and 2690 liters of usable volume, respectively. The manufacturer did not forget about a full-fledged spare wheel, which is fixed under the bottom of the car.

2018 Infiniti QX80 Specifications

From a technical point of view, the car has remained the same. Under the hood is a mighty VK56VD petrol engine with an aluminum V-eight, a direct fuel supply system, as well as a pair of camshafts, a VVEL system and a 32-valve timing belt. Its volume is 5.6 liters, and the maximum power is 405 hp. (560 Nm).

The power unit is paired with a modern 7-band automatic transmission, which allows manual gear shifting. Acceleration from 0 to 100 is comparable to top-end cars and takes only 6.5 seconds, which is an excellent result for an almost 3-ton SUV. The maximum speed is 210 km / h, and the fuel consumption in the combined mode varies between 14-15 liters. True, when driving around the city, the consumption may well reach 21 liters, so this car cannot be called economical for sure.

The car is equipped with a proprietary all-wheel drive system "All Mode" with an electromagnetic clutch, which allows you to choose one of three operating modes: Auto, 4H and 4L. When the first mode is selected, up to 50% of the rotational thrust is transmitted to the front axle, when the second is selected, the torque is distributed evenly, and when the third mode is selected, a downshift is activated. But we hasten to upset the "jeepers" - because of the solid size and suboptimal entry / exit angles, the car is completely unsuitable for conquering serious off-road conditions.

The novelty is based on a modernized frame "bogie" from Nissan Patrol, represented by an independent suspension on both axles: in the front, represented by a "two-lever", and at the back - a "multi-link".

Already in the standard configuration, the car is equipped with the NVMS system, designed to eliminate vibrations and body roll, and, it should be noted, it does its job perfectly well. The steering is complemented by a hydraulic booster, and the braking system is represented by ventilated "discs" on both axles.

Security of the new QX80 2018

As befits a premium SUV, the car offers the highest level of comfort and safety, where the latter is provided by the widest range of systems and assistants:
