In 2014, Skoda introduced the world to the third generation of the Skoda Fabia compact hatchback., which almost immediately went on sale in the countries of the Old World. To date, Fabia is one of the main "locomotives" of the company's sales, as evidenced by more than 500 thousand sold copies of the model.

In March 2018, in Geneva, the Czech company showed a restyling modification of the hatchback (and with it the station wagon), which received a more expressive appearance, a better interior and a significantly increased list of standard and optional equipment.

It came as a surprise that Skoda decided to abandon diesel engines, so from now on the hatchback is available exclusively with 1-liter MPI and TSI petrol engines. Be that as it may, the model has been and remains one of the best choices in its price range, offering customers more cars for less money.

Fabius's appearance

The general style of the restyled Skoda Fabia remained untouched. Frontal part of the body received a slightly modified complex false radiator grille, a corrected head optics pattern and a new front bumper, which received a different air intake grille pattern and a different design of the front foglights.

Rear updates were limited to the installation of a new rear bumper, while the relief lid of the luggage compartment, a small spoiler and large lampshades of the side lights with a C-shaped pattern remained in place.

Vehicle profile has not changed at all: heavily littered front pillars, circular wheel arches, a slightly sloping roofline and stylish "ribs" on the sidewalls. From the new - an expanded selection of light-alloy wheels, including 18-inch "rollers".

It is also worth mentioning that for a surcharge, the car is available with fully LED head and rear optics.

As in the case of its predecessor, the car offers a wide range of body colors, the total number of which reaches 14. Among them, in our opinion, the most interesting are the colors Maple-Brown, Race-Blue and Rally Green.

Interior design Skoda Fabia

The updates to the car's interior mainly affected the list of available equipment. This means that the interior design has retained the same conservatism, high-quality, albeit not first-class, finishing materials and first-class ergonomics in German.

In particular, visibility from the driver's seat was improved, the central dashboard was corrected and the gearbox selector was slightly moved, which made its use more convenient.

In front of the driver is a well-readable dashboard and a well-tailored three-spoke multifunction steering wheel. The central panel contains: a duct unit, a Swing multimedia system with a 6.5-inch "TV" (top-end version), a block of auxiliary buttons and a laconic control console for the car's climate system, complemented by a small monochrome screen.

For front passengers the manufacturer offers high-quality and comfortable chairs that are not devoid of lateral support and have a sufficient number of adjustments. Depending on the version, customers are offered several finishes.

Between the front seats there is a small armrest, a parking brake "poker" and a small "lip" on which the gearbox selector and a pair of cup holders are located.


Rear passengers offers a comfortable sofa that can accommodate up to three passengers. True, only two people will feel as comfortable as possible here. Amenities for rear riders include only a small niche for small items and a pair of USB ports installed in the ledge above the transmission tunnel.

Trunk volume the car is 330 liters in the standard cabin layout and 1150 liters - with the rear sofa down. In the underground luggage compartment, the manufacturer has placed a small repair kit and a stowaway, which is indispensable during long journeys.

As noted earlier, the restyled version of the Skoda Fabia has lost diesel engines, so from now on, hatchback buyers will have to be content with exclusively with gasoline units:

  1. 3-cylinder 1-liter petrol MPI, generating 60 or 75 hp. (95 Nm) and paired with a 5-speed "mechanics". With it, acceleration from 0 to 100 requires 14.9 seconds, and the maximum declared speed is 168 km / h. At the same time, the average fuel consumption does not exceed 5 l / 100 km.
  2. Three-cylinder turbo-petrol TSI with a volume of 1-liter, developing 95 or 110 "horses" at 160 and 200 Nm, respectively. The younger engine is paired with a 5MKPP, while the older one has a 6-range manual transmission or a 7-speed "robot" DSG. Dynamic characteristics of a 95-horsepower engine: acceleration to 100 - in 10.8 seconds, maximum speed of 184 km / h and average fuel consumption at around 4.6 l / 100 km. At the same time, a 110-horsepower engine replaces a “hundred” in 9.6 seconds, develops a maximum of 195 km / h and consumes about 4.7 l / 100 km in a combined cycle.


Like the pre-styling version, the new Fabia is based on a heavily redesigned hatchback bogie of the previous generation, although it was originally intended to be built on a shortened MQB-A bogie.

Car suspension It is represented by a front independent architecture with MacPherson struts and a rear semi-independent architecture, which is based on a torsion beam. Front ventilated "discs" are responsible for braking the hatchback, while the rear axle has to be content with drum-type brakes (simple configurations).

The steering received an electro-hydraulic amplifier, devoid of any additional functions and capabilities.

Safety of the new Skoda Fabia

The updated Skoda Fabia, as before, has in its arsenal a large number of modern assistants and systems designed to improve the safety of passengers and the driver. Among them:
