Crossover of the second generation Renault Koleos is officially presented to the public. In comparison with the previous generation, the car has changed its shape both outside and inside. For better clarity, consider what exactly the changes are, since the front part has completely changed.
Appearance Renault Koleos 2017
Looking at the appearance of the two generations, we can say that these are two different models. The new Renault Koleos 2017 features austere, modern LED-based optics, underlined by curved DRL daytime running lights. In the first generation Koleos, convex and round front optics were installed, and there were no daytime running lights.
The Koleos radiator grille has remained the same in shape, but it has increased in size, made from chrome-plated horizontal stripes, emphasizing the severity of the new crossover. Instead of three horizontal stripes, the designers installed four. Probably one thing that will not change in the near future is the Renault emblem, it was located in the center of the radiator grill.
The front bumper of the Koleos has taken on austere features with rough, harsh shapes. In the first generation, the front bumper was rounded, and the car itself was soft and “kind”. At the very bottom of the bumper, foglights were placed on the sides, and in the middle there was an additional grille for blowing the engine. At the bottom, it is emphasized by a black splitter, similar to that which was in the first generation Renault Koleos.
The hood of the new Renault Koleos 2017 has become larger, the curved shapes from the emblem go to the windshield itself. In the first generation, the hood lay end-to-end with the front fenders, and in the second, the Koleos lay on top of the fenders. It's like a small hint that the parameters of the car have also changed.
The side of the new Renault Koleos has changed beyond recognition. There is absolutely nothing left of the good old crossover. It was replaced by the strict and modern forms of the Koleos 2017. The front fenders follow the contours of the front optics to the very doors.
On the front doors of Koleos, designers have placed side air vents. At the bottom, the car is accentuated by the curvature on the doors and the wide chrome insert. The door handles were left as standard, chrome with a button for opening, but not touch opening.
The rear of the Renault Koleos 2017 has changed completely, the rounded optics have been changed to a strict and elongated one. The body shapes have become austere and really speak of the solidity of the crossover. At the very top, above the glass, a wing was placed to match the body color of the car. The rear optics have become elongated, so that if it were not for the Renault emblem, then there might not have been a separation. Under the emblem, the name of the model “Koleos” is spelled out in large letters. The optics are also based on LED technology.
At the bottom of the Koleos bumper, there are foglights on the sides, and the bottom of the bumper is accentuated by black protection, with two exhaust tips. The tips indicate that a solid engine is hidden under the hood, in front. Around the entire perimeter of the Renault Koleos 2017, designers have installed a black body kit that emphasizes the severity of the crossover.
The roof of the new Renaul Koleos, depending on the configuration, can be simple or panoramic. On the sides there are rails for attaching an additional trunk or other devices.
We can safely say that the new generation of the Renault Koleos 2017 crossover has become much more attractive, the round body shape has been replaced with strict features, the use of modern optics has made the car even more attractive.
The dimensions of the new crossover are:

By its dimensions, it can be judged that the second generation Koleos has become larger in wheelbase compared to the first generation.
What the color of the car will be is not yet reliably known, but according to preliminary data, these will be restrained colors:
- White;
- black;
- silver;
- dark grey;
- Brown;
- Navy blue.
This whole set of Koleos is mounted on 19 ″ alloy wheels, as for the trunk, then with the seats folded it will have a volume of 1380 liters, and in the usual state 450 liters.
In the features of the novelty, many other new cars of Renault are guessed, these are Talisman, Kadjar, Espace and Megane.From each of these cars, they took some part, slightly changing it, and introduced it into the new Koleos.
Salon of the updated crossover
Comparing the interior of the new Renault Koleos 2017 and the first generation of this model, the differences are significant. The nondescript and at first glance cheap interior of the first generation Renault Koleos has been transformed into a rich and stuffed with the latest electronics and systems.
In the middle of the front panel of the Koleos there is an 8.7 ″ touchscreen display. It displays navigation maps, images from all-round cameras, you can also control and configure additional systems and audio. There are two control panels under the display, the first is a dual-zone climate control, even lower is the control panel for heated seats, heated rear window and other functions, depending on the configuration. The instrument panel also changed its appearance, instead of analog instruments, a 7 ″ display was placed in the middle, it displays the speed of Renault Koleos 2017, engine speed and other information about the car. To the right and left of the display, an engine and fuel temperature sensor was placed.
The designers have thought of interesting lighting for the instrument panel, center display, door trims and compartments near the gear lever. Depending on the selected theme of the central display, the color on the other devices also changes. The default colors are blue, green, red and white.
The Koleos steering wheel has changed its shape quite a bit, it is slightly flattened below, and so on three spokes. The classic Renault emblem was placed in the center, the multimedia control buttons were placed on the two side spokes. The steering wheel, like the entire panel, is covered with leather.
The interior will be available in several colors with a combination of black or white. From the available color shades it is reliably known:

As a rule, the ceiling of the Renault Koleos 2017 will be white up to the front panel, at the level of the panel, including the panel itself, will be black. Handles on doors and seats may be of other colors. Along the entire perimeter of the cabin of the new Koleos, inserts in ebony are placed, for an additional fee, they can be aluminum.
High-quality fabric will be used as a material. Leather for the middle class, and a combination of perforated leather and regular leather at the maximum.
The front seats are made in a modern style, a comfortable fit and streamlined side parts of the backrest allow you to drive more than one hundred kilometers in comfort. One row of seats was placed behind, the second row is designed for three passengers. Passengers will have ample space thanks to the modular CMF platform.
The salon of the new Renault Koleos 2017 turned out to be excellent for this class of car. The interior of the previous model resembled an economical version of the car.
Crossover characteristics
The interior and exterior are one thing, but it is a lot of interesting what is under the hood of the car. A gasoline and diesel engine will be available to the buyer.
The basic configuration of the Koleos will be equipped with a 2-liter V4 petrol engine with 144 hp and a maximum torque of 200 Nm. The following configurations of the new Renault Koleos after the base one will be equipped with a more powerful petrol V4 with a volume of 2.5 liters.The power of such a unit is 171 horses, and the maximum torque is 233 Nm.
A turbocharged diesel DCI engine with a volume of 1.6 liters will also be available, the power of the unit will be 150 hp, and the torque is 320 Nm.
The engines will be paired with a manual six-speed gearbox or an Xtronic CVT variator. The basic equipment will be front-wheel drive, but which will be equipped with a 2.5 liter gasoline engine. or a diesel engine will be all-wheel drive with an all-wheel drive system ALL Mode 4x4i. Such a system is automatically able to decide when to connect or disconnect the drive, depending on the traffic situation.
The average acceleration time of Koleos to 100 km / h will take 7 seconds, the maximum speed is 200 km / h. For such engines, of course, it would be possible to squeeze out more. The manufacturer did not please with a special variety of characteristics, they decided to keep the rest of the data at the time of the start of official sales.
Renault Koleos safety
The new Renault Koleos incorporates a variety of electronic safety systems that help the driver and improve the comfort of the vehicle. From the more well-known systems, we can note the Renault R-link multimedia complex with the Bose audio system. There is also active cruise control, which is able to recognize obstacles. The Koleos center display provides 360-degree cameras to help the driver understand the situation around the vehicle. The top trim levels include a winter package with heated windshield, steering wheel, first and second row seats.
Airbags are installed according to the standard for the driver and front passenger, and there are also seat belts. Of course, this is not the ultimate safety kit like the Volvo, but enough to protect the passengers.
The cost and configuration of the crossover
Since the official sale of the new Renault Koleos of the second generation is not yet available, representatives give superficial information about the crossover.
The new Renault Koleos will be available in the following trim levels:
- Expression;
- Dynamique;
- SL Bose;
- Dynamique Comfort;
- Luxe Privilege.
The cost of the basic Koleos configuration will start from 23 thousand dollars, and the maximum price will be from 29 thousand dollars. This cost is due to the budget version of the model, despite the fact that the filling of the car is very solid. Officially, the sale of the crossover in Russia and Europe starts at the beginning of 2017. Sales in Australia, Turkey and Latin America will start at the end of 2017.
